دَبَلَهُI , Present.T ـُ and ـِ Verbal.Noun دَبْلٌ, He collected it together, like as one collects together a morsel, or gobbet, or mouthful, of food with his fingers: and دبّلهُ , Verbal.Noun تَدْبِيلٌ, [in like manner] signifies he collected it together. And دَبَلَ اللُّقْمَةَ, Present.T ـُ Verbal.Noun as above; and دبّلها , Verbal.Noun تَدْبِيلٌ; He made the morsel, or gobbet, or mouthful, large, collecting it together with his fingers: or the latter signifies he made the morsel, or gobbet, or mouthful, large, and swallowed it. And دَبَلْتُ الشَّىْءَ, Verbal.Noun as above; and ; I made the thing into lumps, or compact pieces or portions: and دبّل الحَيْسَ, Verbal.Noun تَدْبِيلٌ, He made the حيس [generally explained as meaning dates mixed with clarified butter and the preparation of dried curd called أَقِط, kneaded, or rubbed and pressed with the hand until they mingle together and their stones come forth,] into دُبَل [pl. of دُبْلَةٌ, q. v.].

def.2 دَبَلَ الأَرْضَ, Verbal.Noun دَبْلٌ and دُبُولٌ, He put the land into a right, or proper, state, prepared it, or improved it, [or manured it,] with dung such as is termed سِرْجِين, [in the K سِرْقِين,] and the like, in order that it might become good: and so دَمَلَهَا.
2 And دَبَلْتُهُ means I put it into a right, or proper, state; prepared it; or improved it; namely, anything; as also دَمَلْتُهُ: for instance, a rivulet; i. e. he cleansed it, and put it into a right, or proper, state.

def.3 دَبَلَهُ, Verbal.Noun دَبْلٌ, also signifies He struck him consecutive strokes with a staff, or stick, and with a whip.
2 دَبَلَتْهُ Calamities, or misfortunes, befell him: or may calamities, or misfortunes, befall him. And دَبَلَتْهُمُ Calamity, or misfortune; befell them: or may calamity, &c.: or they perished: or may they perish. And دَبَلَتْهُ , (K, TA, [in the CK, erroneously, الدُّبُولُ,]) and ذَبَلَتْهُ الذَّبُولُ, Calamity, or misfortune, befell him: or may calamity, &c.: or the bereft woman, i. e. his mother, became bereft of him by death: or may the bereft woman, &c.
3 مَا لَهُ دَبَلَ , or ذَبَلَ ذَبْلُهُ, is a form of imprecation: see the latter in art. ذبل.
