دَجُوجِىٌّ

Full Definition

دَجُوجِىٌّ Of a clear black colour: (A 'Obeyd, TA voce غَيْهَبٌ:) or intensely black; as also أَسْوَدُ دُجْدُجٌ and دُجَاجِىٌّ . It has the latter signification applied to a he-camel; and دَجُوجِيَّةٌ to a she-camel. Also simply Black; applied to hair; and so دَجِيجٌ : or the latter has this signification applied to anything; as also دَجْدَاجٌ : which last likewise signifies dark, applied to a sea or great river, because of the blackness of its water. You say also لَيْلٌ دَجُوجِىٌّ Dark night: or intensely dark night; and so دَجُوجٌ and دُجَاجِىٌّ and دَيْجُوجٌ لَيْلَةٌ and a dark night: S, K:) the pl. of دَيْجُوجٌ is دَيَاجِيجٌ and دَيَاجٌّ the latter a contraction of the former.
