دَفَّعَII see 1; fourth sentence.
2 دفّعهُ إِلَى كَذَا He drove him, compelled him, or necessitated him, to do, or to have recourse to, such a thing.
3 دفّعهُ also signifies He rendered him abject and contemptible, or poor; as though deserving to be repelled. [See the pass. part. n., below.]
4 دفّع قَوْسَهُ He made his bow even.
