Full Definition

ذَرَّI , Present.T ذَرُرَ Verbal.Noun ذَرٌّ, He sprinkled, or scattered, salt upon flesh-meat, and pepper upon a mess of crumbled bread with broth, and a medicament into the eye, and grain upon the ground, &c.; as also ذَرْذَرَ , Verbal.Noun ذَرْذَرَةٌ: he took a thing with the ends of his fingers and sprinkled it upon a thing. You say, ذَرَّ عَيْنَهُ, and ذَرَّ عَيْنَهُ بِالذَّرُورِ, Present.T ذَرُرَ Verbal.Noun ذَرٌّ, He put the medicament called ذَرُور into his eye.
2 Also, Verbal.Noun as above, He spread. You say, ذَرَّ ٱللّٰهُ عِبَادَهُ فِى الأَرْضِ God spread his servants, or mankind, upon the earth. Whence the word ذُرِّيَّةٌ.
3 And ذَرَّتِ الأَرْضُ النَّبْتَ The ground put forth the plant, or plants.

def.2 ذَرَّ, Present.T ذَرُرَ [contr. to analogy,] Verbal.Noun ذُرُورٌ, It came up, or forth, from the ground: or it began to come forth; put forth the smallest portion of itself.
2 ذَرَّتِ الشَّمْسُ, Present.T ذُرُورٌ, Verbal.Noun ذُرُورٌ, The sun rose; and appeared: or began to rise: شُرُوقُهَا is when its light first falls upon the earth and trees: and ذَرَّ قَرْنُ الشَّمْس, Present.T and Verbal.Noun as above, The upper limb of the sun rose: or began to rise.

def.3 ذَرَّ is also syn. with تَخَدَّدَ [app. as meaning His flesh became contracted, shrunk, or wrinkled].

def.4 Also, Present.T ذَرَرَ contr. to analogy, unless ذَرَّ be for ذَرِرَ, said of a man, The fore part of his head became white, or hoary.
