Full Definition

زَخَرَI , Present.T ـَ Verbal.Noun زَخْرٌ and زُخُورٌ and زَخِيرٌ, so in the A, It became full; or rose, and became full; as also : or both, said of the sea, its flow, or tide, rose, or became full: or the former, [or each,] said of the sea, it increased, and its water became abundant, and its waves rose.
2 It flowed with much water, which rose high: it flowed copiously, and its torrent became full: or it flowed with abundance of water, and its waves rose.
3 زَخَرَتِ القِدْرُ, Present.T ـَ Verbal.Noun زَخْرٌ, The cooking-pot boiled, or began to do so: and in like manner, الحَرْبُ [war, or the war; i. e. raged, or began to do so]. And زَخَرَ القَوْمُ The people, or party, became in a state of commotion for the purpose of going forth to execute some affair, or for war.
4 [زَخَرَتِ الرِّيحُ The wind blew strongly, or vehemently. ]
5 زَخَرَ said of a plant, or herbage, It became high, or tall; and so said of anything.
6 And, said of a man, He boasted بِمَا عِنْدَهُ [of what he possessed], or بِمَا لَيْسَ عِنْدَهُ [of what he did not possess]; as also تَزَخْوَرَ : or this latter signifies he magnified himself; or behaved proudly, haughtily, or insolently; and threatened.

5 زَخَرَ الدِّقَّ i. q. أَذْرَاهُ فِى الرِّيحِ [He threw, or scattered, the fine part, or particles, in the wind], with the مِذَرَّة [or instrument with which grain is scattered].
