Full Definition

زَرِقَI , [Present.T ـَ] Verbal.Noun زَرَقٌ and زُرْقَةٌ, [or the latter is a simple subst.,] He had that colour of the eye which is termed زُرْقَة [q. v.]; [i. e.] he was blue-eyed; or gray-eyed; or of a greenish hue in the eye [so I render the Pers. explanation سبز چشم شد]. And زَرِقَتْ عَيْنُهُ; and عَيْنُهُ, Verbal.Noun اِزْرِقَاقٌ; and ازراقّت عَيْنُهُ, Verbal.Noun اِزْرِيقَاقٌ; His eye was of the colour termed زُرْقَةٌ; [i. e.] his eye was gray; [&c.]
2 And زَرِقَ, Verbal.Noun زَرَقٌ, He was, or became, blind.
3 [And زَرِقَ النَّصْلُ, Verbal.Noun زَرَقٌ, is app. used as signifying The iron head or blade of an arrow &c. was, or became, very clear or bright: see زَرَقٌ, below.]
4 And زَرِقَ المَآءُ The water was, or became, clear; as also .

2 [Hence,] زَرَقَهُ بِعَيْنِهِ, and بِبَصَرِهِ, He looked sharply, or intently, or attentively, at him; he cast his eye at him.
3 زَرَقَتِ الرَّحْلَ, or الحِمْلَ, She made the saddle, or the load, to shift backwards: and حِمْلَهَا, Verbal.Noun إِزْرَاقٌ, She made her load to shift backwards. [See also 2.]
