ـَ Verbal.Noun زَعْقٌ, He called out, or cried out. You say; زَعَقْتُ بِهِ, Verbal.Noun as above, I called out, or cried out, to him: of the dial. of Syria.
2 And زَعَقَ بِدَوَابِّهِ, Verbal.Noun as above, He drove away his beasts: or he called out, or cried out, to his beasts, and drove them away quickly.
3 And زَعَقَهُ, and زَعَقَ بِهِ, Present.T as above, and so the Verbal.Noun in both cases, He frightened him; as also : and They frightened him: or they frightened him so that he became brisk, lively, or sprightly: or you say, الخَوْفُ حَتَّى زَعِقَ [Fear affected him so that he became brisk, lively, or sprightly, yet fearful]: accord. to As, one says , and the epithet applied to the object is مَزْعُوقٌ , differing form rule; but accord. to El-Umawee, one says زَعَقْتُهُ, and the epithet so applied is مَزْعُوقٌ .
