زَاغَI , Present.T يَزُوغُ, Verbal.Noun زَوْغٌ, He declined, deviated, swerved, or turned aside, from the right course or direction, and from the road; as also زاغ, Present.T يَزِيغُ, Verbal.Noun زَيْغٌ, which latter is the more chaste: the former is a dial. var. of the latter. (Msb in art. زيغ.)
2 And زاغ فِى المَنْطِقِ, Present.T يَزُوغُ, Verbal.Noun زَوَغَانٌ, He declined, or deviated, from the right way in speech.

def.2 It is also trans.: you say, زاغ قَلْبَهُ, Present.T يَزُوغُ, He made his heart to decline, deviate, swerve, or turn aside. رَبَّنَا لَا تَزُغْ قُلُوبَنَا, with fet-h to the ت and damm to the ز, [O our Lord, make not our hearts to decline from the right way, in the Kur iii. 6, commonly read تُزِغْ, (see 4 in art. زيغ,)] is an extr. reading of Náfi.
2 [Hence, app., if it be correct,] زاغ النَّاقَةَ, Present.T يَزُوغُ, Verbal.Noun زَوْغٌ, He pulled the she-camel by the nose-rein: so says Ibn- 'Abbád: but [Sgh says,] the verb in this sense is with the unpointed ع only; which Ibn-'Abbád states to be the better known.
