Lane's Arabic-English Lexicon

زيّلهُ

Root: زيل

Form: 2

Full Definition

زيّلهُII , Verbal.Noun تَزْيِيلٌ, He separated it [i. e. acompany of men, or an assemblage of things,] much [or greatly, or widely; or dispersed it;] differing in degree from زَالَهُ like as مَيَّزَهُ does from مَازَهُ. Hence, فَزَيَّلْنَا بَيْنَهُمْ [And we will separate them widely, one from another], in the Kur [x. 29]; where some read بَيْنَهُمْ; like لَا تُصَعِّرْ and لا تُصَاعِرْ [in the Kur xxxi. 17]. [See also an ex. in a verse cited voce دُونَ.] زَيَّلْتُ is of the measure فَعَّلْتُ because its Verbal.Noun is as above; for were it فَيْعَلْتُ, one would say زَيَّلَةٌ [of the measure فَيْعَلَةٌ].

def.2 تَزْيِيلٌ is also [said to be] an [irreg.] Verbal.Noun of 5, q. v.
