سَالِقَةٌ A woman raising her voice, on the occasion of a calamity, or on the occasion of the death of any one: or slapping her face: thus says Ibn-El-Mubárak: but the former explanation is the more correct: it occurs in a trad., in which such is said to have been cursed by the Prophet; and, as some relate it, with ص.
