سَحُوفٌ

Full Definition

سَحُوفٌ A bucket (دَلْو) that takes, and bears away, the water that is in a well.

def.2 Also, applied to a she-camel, Of which the fat has gone away.
2 And, applied to a sheep or goat, or to a ewe or she-goat, (شَاة,) Having a portion of fat such as is termed سَحْفَة, or two such portions of fat; as also أُسْحُوفٌ : or, so applied, and applied to a she-camel, and to a he-camel, having abundance of سَحَائِف, pl. of سَحِيفَةٌ [q. v.]; or having abundance of the fat termed سَحْفَة.
3 Also A she-camel long in the teats.
4 And A she-camel narrow in the orifices of the teats.
5 And A she-camel that drags her feet, or the extremities of her feet, upon the ground, in going along; so say some; i. e., by reason of fatigue: a dial. var. of زَحُوفٌ.
6 And A sheep, or ewe, thin in the wool of the belly.
7 In the K, three other meanings are erroneously assigned to this word; one of them belonging to سَحِيفَةٌ, and each of the others to سَحِيفٌ.
