Full Definition

سَعْدَانَةٌ n. un. of سَعْدَانٌ.
2 سَعْدَانَةُ الثَّنْدُوَةِ The nipple of a woman's breast; as being likened to the [head of] prickles of the plant called سَعْدَان, as mentioned above: or سَعْدَانَةُ الثَّدْىِ, i. e. the blackness [or areola] around the nipple: or the part surrounding the ثَدْى [here meaning nipple], like the whirl of a spindle.
3 [Hence likewise,] سَعْدَانَةٌ signifies also The knot of the شِسْع [or appertenance that passes between two of the toes and through the sole] of the sandal, beneath, next the ground; also called رُغْبَانَةٌ. (K in art. رغب.)
4 And The knot beneath the scale of a balance: the knots beneath the scale of a balance are called its سَعْدَانَات.
5 And the pl., سَعْدَانَاتٌ, Things in the lower parts of the [tendons, or sinews, called] عُجَايَة, resembling nails (أَظْفَار).
6 Also the sing., The callous protuberance upon the breast of the camel, upon which he rests when he lies down: so called because of its roundness.
7 And The anus: or the sphincter thereof.
8 And The part of the vulva of a mare where the veretrum enters.
