سَلُوفٌ : see سَلَفٌ, first sentence.
2 Also, applied to a she-camel, That is among the foremost of the camels when they come to the water: or that precedes the [other] camels to the watering-trough or tank: or that precedes, or leads, the other camels; opposed to عَنُودٌ. (El-Keysee, TA in art. عند.)
3 And A swift, or fleet, horse: pl. سُلْفٌ.
4 And An arrow having a long head: or a long arrow-head.
