سُمَّةٌ : see سَمٌّ, last sentence.

def.2 Also A mat, or a سُفْرَة [q. v.], or a thing like a wide سُفْرَة, made, [i. e.] woven, of خُوص [or leaves] of the غَضَف [a tree resembling a dwarfpalm-tree]: it is spread beneath the palm-tree when the dates are cut off, and upon it fall what become scattered of the dates: pl. سِمَامٌ, or سُمَمٌ, or, as in the T, سُمُومٌ.
