سِمْساَرٌ

Full Definition

سِمْساَرٌ A broker; or one who acts as an intermediary between the seller and the buyer, for effecting the sale; whom people call دَلَّالٌ, because he directs the purchaser to the merchandise, and the seller to the price: pl. سَمَاسِرَةٌ: a Pers. word, arabicized: or one who sells wheat to the people: or the possessor of a thing: or one who has the care of a thing.
2 A messenger, or mediator, (سَفِيرٌ,) between two lovers or friends.
3 سِمْسَارُ الأَرْضِ He who is acquainted with the land, or country; an acute scrutinizer of its circumstances: fem. with ة.
4 هُوَ ٱبْنُ سِمْسَارِهَا [app. means He is the careful and skilful manager of it]. (Fr, TA voce حِلسٌ.)
