سَيْف [or sword]; as also
مُسِيفٌ : pl. [or rather coll. gen. n.] of the former سَيَّافَةٌ: or this last signifies a people, or party, whose
حُصُون [or fortresses] are their
سُيُوف [or sword; i. e. whose only means of defence are their swords].
