Full Definition

شَحَنَI , Present.T ـَ Verbal.Noun شَحْنٌ, He filled a ship, or a house, or chamber, &c.: he filled, [or laded,] and completely equipped or furnished, a ship. And in like manner, It filled a ship. And, as also اشحن , He filled a town or city بِالخَيْلِ [with horsemen or the horsemen].

def.2 Also, Present.T as above, and so the Verbal.Noun, He drove away a people, or party, or him. And one says, مَرَّ يَشْحَنُهُمْ, Verbal.Noun as above, He passed along driving them away, and pursuing them. AZ heard an Arab of the desert say, اِشْحَنْ عَنْكَ فُلَانًا, meaning Remove thou, and put far away, from thee such a one. And one says of a thing that is intensely acid, إِنَّهُ يَشْحَنُ الذُّبَابَ i. e. Verily it drives away the flies.

def.3 شَحْنٌ also signifies The running vehemently. And شَحَنَ, He went far, or far away. And one says, شَحَنَتِ الكِلَابُ, [and شَحِنَت, as appears from what follows,] Present.T تَشْحَنُ and تَشْحُنُ, like تَمْنَعُ and تَعْلَمُ and تَنْصُرُ, Verbal.Noun شُحُونٌ, The dogs went far in pursuit without catching any prey, or game.

def.4 شَحِنَ عَلَيْهِ, Present.T ـَ Verbal.Noun شَحَنٌ; and شَحَنَ, Present.T ـَ Verbal.Noun شَحْنٌ; He bore rancour, malevolence, malice, or spite, against him; and bore, or showed, enmity towards him.
