Full Definition

شَهْوَانُ and شَهْوَانِىٌّ and شَهِىٌّ , applied to a man, Desirous, or longing; or very desirous or longing; greedy; or voracious: fem. شَهْوَى: pl. [of the first] شَهَاوَى, like سَكَارَى [pl. of سَكْرَانُ]. [See an ex. of the pl. in a verse cited voce جَرْدَبَانٌ.] One says, رَجُلٌ شَهْوَانُ لِلشَّىْءِ [A man desirous &c. of the thing].
