Full Definition

صُبَّابَةٌ and صُيَّابٌ and صُبَابَةٌ and صُيَابٌ The أَصْل [as meaning the original stock] of a people, or [as meaning the original, or the principal, or most essential, part,] of a thing: and the purest, or choice, or best, part or portion, of a thing of any kind, or of a people. One says, هُوَ فِى صُيَّابَةِ قَوْمِهِ and He is of the أَصْل [or original stock] of his people: and مِنْ صُيَّابَةِ قَوْمِهِ and صُوَّابَةِ قومه and مِنْ of the purest in race of his people. And قَوْمٌ صُيَّابٌ A choice, or an excellent, people.
2 Also the first, The collective body of a people; and so صُوَّابَةٌ. (M in art. صوب.)
3 And A lord, master, or chief.
