صَيْرَمٌ

Full Definition

صَيْرَمٌ A calamity that extirpates everything. (TA. [See also صُرَامٌ, last sentence.])

def.2 Also Firm, or sound, of judgment.

def.3 And i. q. وَجْبَةٌ, like صَيْلَمٌ, i. e. An eating once in the day: or, accord. to Yaakoob, an eating at the time [of morning] called الضُّحَى [and not again] to the like time of the morrow: one says, فُلَانٌ يَأْكُلُ الصَّيْرَمَ i. e. [Such a one eats] once in the day: but AHát says, I asked El-Asma'ee respecting the بَزْمَة and the صَيْرَم, and he said, I know it not: this is the language of the devil.
