Full Definition

ضَالَةٌ n. un. of ضَالٌ [q. v.].
2 Also Arrows, and bows, made of the [species of lote-tree called] ضَال: this is the primary signification: or arrows, because they are made thereof: or it signifies, or signifies also, all kinds of weapons. One says, رَأَيْتُهُ يَرْمِى بِالضَّالَةِ [I saw him shooting arrows]. And خَرَجَ وَفِى يَدِهِ ضَالَةٌ i. e. [He went forth having in his hand] a bow. And إِنَّهُ لَكَامِلُ الضَّالَةِ Verily he is complete in respect of weapons. And خَرَجَ فُلَانٌ بِضَالَتِهِ Such a one went forth with his weapons.
