Full Definition

ضَاعَI , Present.T يَضِيعُ, Verbal.Noun ضَيَاعٌ and ضَيْعَةٌ and ضَيْعٌ and ضِيعٌ, It perished, came to nought, passed away, or became lost. It is said in a trad. of Saad, إِنِّى أَخَافُ عَلَى الأَعْنَابِ الضَّيْعُةَ i. e. [Verily I fear, for the grapes,] their [lit. the] perishing, or becoming lost.
2 And ضاع, Verbal.Noun ضَيَاعٌ and ضَيْعَةٌ, It was left; left, or let, alone; or neglected. Hence, ضاعت الإِبِلُ, and ضاع العِيَالُ, The camels, and the family, or household, were left untended, and unminded; and were left alone, or neglected.
