2 And ضافت الشَّمْسُ, or ضافت الشمس لِلْغُرُوبِ, Present.T تَضِيفُ, Verbal.Noun ضَيْفٌ; and تضيّفت , or تضيّفت للغروب; and ضيّفت , ضيّفت للغروب; The sun inclined, or drew near, to setting.
3 And ضافت said of a woman, Present.T as above, She menstruated; because she who does so inclines, or declines, from a state of pureness to menstruation.
4 And ضاف السَّهْمُ, or ضاف السهم عَنِ الهَدَفِ, The arrow turned aside from the butt: like صاف. And ضاف عَنِ الشَّىْءِ, Verbal.Noun ضَوْفٌ [and ضَيْفٌ], He, or it, turned away from the thing: like صاف, Verbal.Noun صَوْفٌ [and صَيْفٌ]. (M in art. ضوف.)
5 And ضاف said of a man, He feared; as also
اضاف . And اضاف مِنْهُ He feared it, or was cautious of it; namely, an event, or affair; as also ضاف مِنْهُ: or he was cautious of it with the caution of one encompassed, or beset, thereby.
