طَرُوحٌ

Full Definition

طَرُوحٌ A distant place; as also طَرَحٌ , and طَرَاحٌ , and [app. طَارِحٌ , for] one says دِيَارٌ طَوَارِحُ Distant dwellings or abodes [as though the latter word were pl. of طَارِحَةٌ]. [Hence,] عُقْبَةٌ طَرُوحٌ [A stage of a journey] far-extending. (A, * O: in a copy of the former عَقَبَةٌ.) And سَيْرٌ A far, or distant, journey: or a hard journey. And نِيَّةٌ طَرُوحٌ, or طَرَحٌ , (T, K, TA, and O in art. ضرح,) like ضَرَحٌ, i. q. بَعِيدَةٌ [app. meaning A distant, or remote, thing, or place, that is the object of an action or a journey]. And نَخْلَةٌ طَرُوحٌ A palm-tree having long racemes: or of which the upper part is far from the lower: pl. طُرُحٌ, with two dammehs.
2 قَوْسٌ طَرُوحٌ A bow that propels the arrow with vehemence; i. q. ضَرُوحٌ: or that sends the arrow far: or that sends it to the furthest limit. And رَجُلٌ طَرُوحٌ A man who, when he compresses, impregnates. And فَحْلٌ طَرُوحٌ i. q. مِطْرَحٌ, q. v. And زَمَنٌ طَرُوحٌ A time that casts the people thereof into places, or positions, of peril: and نَوَائِبُ طُرْحٌ [or طُرُحٌ, as above, Accidents that cast people into such places or positions].
