عَاوٍ
[act. part. n. of عَوَى]. One says, مَا لَهُ عَاوٍوَلَا نَابِحٌ i. e. He has not belonging to him [a howler nor a barker, meaning sheep, or goats, among which the wolf howls and in the way to which the dog barks [to defend them].
