عَجْعَجَ

: see 1, in four places.
2 عجعج بِالنَّاقَةِ, or عَجَّ النَّاقَةَ, He chid the she-camel, saying عَاجِ عَاجِ, or عَاجَّ: or the former signifies he turned the she-camel to a thing, saying عَاجِ عَاجِ.
3 And [the Verbal.Noun] عَجْعَجَةٌ signifies The changing of ى into ج when occurring with ع [immediately preceding it]: a practice that obtained among the tribe of Kudá'ah; and accord. to Fr, among the tribe of Teiyi, and some of the tribe of Asad; (TA in art. ج, q. v.;) like as عَنْعَنَةٌ did among that of Temeem: they used to say, هٰذَا رَاعِجٌ خَرَجَ مَعِجْ for رَاعٍ خَرَجَ مَعِى [This is a pastor who went forth with me].
