Full Definition

عَرَجَI , Present.T ـُ Verbal.Noun عُرُوجٌ and مَعْرَجٌ, He ascended, or mounted. So in the saying عَرَجَ فِى الدَّرَجَةِ and فى السُّلَّمِ [He ascended, or mounted, the stair, or the series of steps, and the ladder]. And عَرَجَ فِى الشَّىْءٍ, and عَلَيْهِ, Present.T ـُ and ـِ Verbal.Noun عُرُوجٌ, He ascended, or mounted, upon the thing And عُرِجَ بِهِ means He was taken up to a high place; as, for instance, إِلَى عَنَانِ السَّمَآءِ [to the clouds of Heaven].
2 And عَرَجَ الشَّىْءُ The thing became high, or elevated.

def.2 عَرَجَ, with fet-h to the ر, Present.T ـُ Verbal.Noun عَرْجٌ; (Msb; [accord. to the O عَرَجٌ;]) or عَرَجَ and عَرِجَ and عَرُجَ; He limped, or had a slight lameness, and walked like the lame, by reason of some accident that had befallen him in his leg or foot, not naturally, or not by reason of a chronic ailment: or عَرَجَ, Present.T ـُ; and عَرِجَ and عَرُجَ; Verbal.Noun عَرَجَانٌ; he walked like the lame, with a limping gait, by reason of some accident.
2 And عَرِجَ, Present.T ـَ Verbal.Noun عَرَجٌ and عُرْجَةٌ, He was lame, walked lamely, or limped, naturally, or by reason of a chronic ailment: or he became lame. [See also عَرَجٌ below.]
3 عَرَجٌ also signifies The setting of the sun: or its inclining towards the place of setting: Verbal.Noun of عَرِجَتْ.
4 And عَرِجَ, Verbal.Noun عَرَجٌ, He emitted his urine indirectly: said of the male only, when the hind girth is bound upon him [so as to press upon his sheath]: like حقِبَ.
