The first part or portion of anything.
2 And hence, [particularly,] the first [or upper] part [i. e. the bridge] of the nose, beneath the place where the eyebrows come together; the place of what is termed الشَّمَمُ: or the head of the nose: or the hard part of the bone of the nose: or it signifies, or is sometimes applied to, the nose, altogether: pl. عَرَانِينُ.
