Full Definition

عَضْمٌ A winnowing-fork; i. e. the wooden implement with prongs with which wheat is winnowed: and عَظْمٌ is a dial. var. thereof: pl. أَعْضِمَةٌ and عُضْمٌ, [the former of pauc. and the latter of mult.,] both anomalous; the true state of the case being that they formed from عَضْمٌ the pl. عِضَامٌ; and from this, أَعْضِمَةٌ and عُضُمٌ, [of which latter, عُضْمٌ is app. a contraction,] like أَمْثِلَةٌ and مُثُلٌ pls. of مِثَالٌ.
2 And The board, i. e. the broad board, of the plough, at the head of which is the iron [or share] that cleaves the earth: and so عَظْمٌ, accord. to AHn.
3 And The handle, or part that is grasped by the hand, of a bow: and عَظْمٌ is a dial. var. thereof: pl. عِضَامٌ.
4 And The [part of the tail called] عَسِيب [q. v.], or the عُكْوَة [or root of the tail where it is bare of hair, S in art. عكو], of the camel, or of the horse, or of both: as also عِضَامٌ , of which عِصَامٌ is a dial. var.: pl. أَعْضِمَةٌ and عُضُمٌ, [both, accord. to analogy, of the latter sing.,] the former of pauc. and the latter of mult.
5 And A line, or streak, in a mountain, differing from the rest in colour.
