Full Definition

عَهَنَI , Present.T ـُ Verbal.Noun عَهْنٌ, He remained, stayed, dwelt, or abode, بِالمَكَانِ [in the place].
2 And He, or it, went forth: thus the verb has two contr. significations. One says, عَهَنَ مِنْهُ خَيْرٌ, Present.T ـُ Verbal.Noun عُهُونٌ, Good went forth [or proceeded] from him, or it.
3 Also It continued, lasted, or endured.
4 And It was, or became, present, or ready; syn. حَضَرَ.
5 And He strove, laboured, exerted himself, or was diligent, فِى العَمَلِ [in the deed, or work].
6 And i. q. عَهِدَ [probably in its most usual sense, meaning, with إِلَيْهِ following it, He enjoined, charged, or bade, him; or the like].

def.2 عَهَنَ لَهُ مُرَادَهُ He hastened to him what he wished, or desired.

def.3 عَهَنَتِ السَّعَفَةُ, or عَهَنَتْ عَوَاهِنُ النَّخْلِ, Present.T ـُ with damm, and ـَ Verbal.Noun عُهُونٌ, The palm-branch, or the palm-branches called عَوَاهِن, became dried up.

def.4 عَهَنَ, Present.T ـِ Verbal.Noun عَهْنٌ, [and quasi-Verbal.Noun عُهْنَةٌ, q. v.,] said of a branch, rod, or twig, It bent: or it broke without becoming separated.
