عُيَيْرٌ

Root: عير

Full Definition

عُيَيْرٌ [dim. of عَيْرٌ]. You say, فُلَانٌ عُيَيْرُ وَحْدِهِ Such a one is a person who is pleased with his own opinion; an expression of dispraise; like as نَسِيجُ وَحْدِهِ is one of praise: or a person who does not consult others, nor mix with them, yet in whom is ignobleness and weakness; as also جُحَيْشُ وَحْدِهِ [q. v.]: or a person who eats by himself. You may also say عِيَيْرٌ, like شِيَيْخٌ for شُيَيْخٌ; but you should not say عُوَيْر, nor شُوَيْخ.
