Full Definition

غَمَتَهُI , Present.T ـِ Verbal.Noun غَمْتٌ, It was, or became, heavy upon his heart [or stomach], he having eaten much thereof so that it caused him to suffer indigestion, and it rendered him like one intoxicated: or, accord. to Sh, it rendered him like one intoxicated, in consequence of indigestion.
2 And He covered it; namely, a thing.
3 And غَمَتَهُ فِى المَآءِ i. q. غَطَّهُ [i. e. He immersed, or plunged, him, or it, into the water; like غَتَّهُ].
4 And غَمَتَ نَفَسًا He made a sign, or motion, with' his head, or he raised his head, [for the purpose of taking breath,] in drinking.

def.2 غَمِتَ He became like one intoxicated, by grease [in his stomach]: or he suffered from the heaviness of food upon his heart [or stomach] so that he became like one intoxicated.
