فَارِضٌ : see فَرَضِىٌّ.

def.2 Old, aged, or advanced in age; applied to a cow; in the Kur ii. 63; and to a ram: or extremely aged; or old and weak; applied to a cow; as also فَارِضَةٌ and فَرِيضٌ and فَرِيضَةٌ : or large and fat; applied to a cow: pl. فَوَارِضُ: and the pl. also signifies sound, or healthy, and large; not small, nor diseased: and, contr., diseased.
2 Old, aged, or advanced in age, and large, big, or bulky; applied to a man: or large, big, or bulky; applied to a man; and to a full-grown unripe date (بُسْرَة); and to the bursa faucium of a camel (شِقْشِقَة); and to a uvula (لَهَاة); and to a skin for water or milk (سِقَآء); and to a beard (لِحْيَة); or, applied to this last, it is with ة; or with and without ة: and without ة, applied in the same sense to anything; being masc. and fem.: pl. فُرَّضٌ, applied to men; or this, so applied, signifies goodly, or handsome: and فَوَارِضُ is applied to dates [&c.]. Also Old, or ancient; applied to a thing. You say ضِغْنٌ فَارِضٌ Great rancour, or malevolence, or malice; as also ضَغِينَةٌ فَارِضٌ: or old rancour, &c. And ضَبٌّ فَارِضٌ Great enmity.
