فَتُوَI , Present.T يَفْتُو; or فَتِىَ, Present.T يَفْتَى; Verbal.Noun فَتَآءٌ, or فَتًى; He was, or became, such as is termed فَتِىٌّ [i. e. youthful, or in the prime of life].

def.2 فَتَوْتُهُمْ, Present.T أَفْتُوهُمْ, I overcame them, or surpassed them, in فُتُوَّة, i. e. generosity. [Accord. to the TK, one says, فَفَتَوْتُهُمْ, meaning They contended with me for superiority in generosity, and I overcame them, or surpassed them, therein; and the Verbal.Noun of the former verb is مُفَاتَاةٌ.]
