Q. 1 Verbal.Noun فَرْتَنَةٌ, signifies شَقَّقَ كَلَامَهُ وَٱهْتَمَشَ فِيهِ [app. meaning He uttered, or endeavoured with repeated efforts to utter, his speech in the best manner, and proceeded slowly therein]: in the copies of the K, اهتمس, with the unpointed س, is put for اهتمش, which is the right reading.
