قَارِسٌ Intense, or vehement, cold; as also قَرِيسٌ : you should not say قَارِصٌ.
2 See also قَرْسٌ.
3 In a state of congelation, or freezing; as also قَرِيسٌ ; and قَرَسٌ : the first and second applied to water: the last, to anything; but this last was unknown to Abu-l-Gheyth.
4 Cold; chill; as also قَرِيسٌ , and قَرْسٌ . You say يَوْمٌ قَارِسٌ [A cold day]. And لَيْلَةٌ قَارِسَةٌ [A cold night].
