قَرْيَةٌ A town, or village; a small بَلَد, smaller than a مَدِينَة: (MF, voce تِرْمِذ:) not well applied to a مَدِينَة unless qualified by an epithet denoting greatness. (TA in art. مَدِينَة.) See Bd, ii. 261.
