ـُ; Verbal.Noun قُمُوْءٌ and قُمُوءَةٌ, both of the former verb, and قَمْءٌ and قَمَآءَةٌ, which is of the latter verb, and قَمَآءٌ, also of the latter verb; The cattle became fat, or plump; as also
: the first is expl. in the T as meaning the cattle became full with fatness: and the epithet applied to them is there said to be
قَامِئَةٌ .
2 And قَمَأَتِ الإِبِلُ بِالمَكَانِ, and قَمُؤَت, The camels abode in the place, and were pleased with it, because of its abundant pasture, and became fat, or plump, in it. And قَمَأَتِ المَاشِيَةُ مَكَانَ كَذَا حَتَّى سَمِنَتْ [The cattle abode in such a place until they became fat, or plump]. See also 5.
3 And قَمَأْتُ بِالمَكَانِ, Verbal.Noun قَمْءٌ, I abode in the place: or I entered the place and abode in it. And قَمَأَ إِلَى مَنْزِلٍ He went into an abode.
def.2 قَمَأَهُ is also syn. with قَمَعَهُ [q. v.]: the latter is affirmed to be the original word: you say قَمَأْتُ الرَّجُلَ, meaning قَمَعْتُهُ.
