قَنْدٌ and قَنْدَةٌ and قِنْدِيدٌ The honey of the sugar-cane, when it has become concrete, or when it has been rendered concrete; [or sugar-candy;] see also طَبَرْزَدٌ; with which فَانِيد is made: or that of which sugar is made; so that sugar is to قند like clarified butter to fresh butter: the pl. of قند is قُنُودٌ: it is an arabicized word, from [the Pers.] كَنْدٌ [or قَنْدْ].
