لَحَتَI , Present.T ـَ (Verbal.Noun لَحْتٌ, TA,) He beat, struck, or smote, a person with a staff, or stick.

def.2 لَحَتَ, Present.T ـَ (Verbal.Noun لَحْتٌ, TA,) He peeled, or unbarked, a staff, or stick: or sawed it, and peeled, or unbarked it: as also نَحَتَ.
2 هٰذَا رَجُلٌ لَا يَضِيرُكَ عَلَيْهِ نَحْتًا وَلَحْتًا expl. by ما يزيدك عليه نحتا اللشعر ولحتا له [This is a man than whom none will be more useful to thee in the trimming of verses: يضيرك, which is written without the syll. points, is probably a mistake for يَضُرُّكَ: see art. ضر].
3 لَحَتَهُ بِالعَذْلِ, Present.T ـَ Verbal.Noun لَحْتٌ, [He trimmed him with reproof]: a phrase similar to that immediately preceding.
4 لَحَتَهُ, Present.T ـَ Verbal.Noun لَحْتٌ, He took what he had, leaving him nothing; as also لَتَحَهُ.
