Full Definition

مَدْبَغَةٌ and مَدْبُغَةٌ A place where hides, or skins, are tanned. [Hence,] one says, هٰذَا البَلَدُ مَدْبَغَةُ الرِّجَالِ [This country is the place where men are tanned by the sun].
2 Also, the former, Skins put into the دِبَاغ [or tanning-liquor]: or of which the tanning has been commenced: as though made a pl., like مَشْيَخَةٌ as syn. with مَشَائِخُ.
