2 Dust rising into the sky; as being likened to a row of palm-trees or other things.
def.2 Also, or مِسْطَارٌ, with kesr to the م, or with teshdeed, [مُسْطَارٌّ,] as written by Ks, and this also shows it to be with damm, being in this case from إِسْطَارَّ, Present.T يَسْطَارُّ, A kind of wine in which is acidity; an acid kind of wine: or a kind of wine which prostrates its drinker: or new, or recently-made, wine, of which the taste and odour are altered: or wine made of the earliest of grapes, recently: or a wine in which is a taste between sweet and sour; also termed مُسْطَارَةٌ : Az says, it is of the dial. of the people of Syria; and I think that it is Greek, [or perhaps it is from the Latin “ mustarius, ” which is from “ mustum, ”] because it does not resemble an Arabic form: it is with ص, or, as some say, with س; and [app. a mistake for “ or ”] I think it to be of the measure مُفْتَعَلٌ from صَارَ, with the ت changed into ط.
