Full Definition

مَعَازِفُ Musical instruments; pulsatile instruments of music; accord. to some of the lexicologists, such as the lute and [mandoline called] طُنْبُور and the like of these and the tambourine &c.: sing. عَزْفٌ , as is transmitted from the Arabs; the pl. being irreg., like مَلَامِحُ and مَشَابِهُ, pls. of لَمْحَةٌ and شَبَهٌ; or the sing. is مِعْزَفٌ and , which are applied to a sort of musical instrument having many strings; or the former of these signifies a sort of طُنْبُور made by the people of El-Yemen, now called قبوس; or the lute.
