مَعْرَفَةٌ
The place [or part] upon which grows the
عُرْف [or mane]; the place of the
عُرْف
of the horse, from the forelock to the withers: or the flesh upon which grows the
عُرْف. But the phrase الأَخْذُ مِنْ مَعْرَفَةِ الدَّابَّةِ means The cutting [or taking] of somewhat from the
عُرْف
of the beast.
