مَقْبِضٌ and مَقْبَضٌ , but the former is the more common and the better known, and مِقْبَضٌ , and with ة, i. e. مَقْبِضَةٌ , and , The handle; or part where it is grasped, by the hand, or with the whole hand; of a sword, and قَبْضَةٌ is said to signify the same; or of a knife, and of a bow, and of a whip, &c., or of anything: or مَقْبِضَةٌ or signifies the place of the hand of a spear or spear-shaft: pl. مَقَابِضُ.
