مَنْزِلَةٌ

Full Definition

مَنْزِلَةٌ A space which one traverses in journeying. (TA, art. سير.)
2 مَنْزِلَةٌ, used unrestrictedly, Station, standing, footing, or grade; honourable station or rank; a place of preferment.
3 A predicament in which one stands.
4 كَلِمَةٌ بِمَنْزِلَةِ كَلِمَةٍ أُخْرَى A word equivalent, or similar, to another word.
5 [You say] يُسْتَعْمَلُ بِمَنْزِلَةِ كَذَا It is used in the manner of such [another word]; generally with respect to government, not necessarily with respect to meaning.
6 النَّازِلُ مِنَ الدِّينِ والدُّنْيَا مَنْزِلَةَ النُّورِ مِنَ العَيْنِ Who is, in respect to religion and the world, as light to the eye.
