نَجْدَةٌ

Full Definition

نَجْدَةٌ , a simple subst. Courage, and sharpness, or vigour and effectiveness, in those affairs which others lack power or ability to accomplish: or courage with steadiness, and calmness in awaiting fearlessly death, victory, or martyrdom: or great valour: or quickness in assenting to that which one is called or invited to do, whether it be good or evil.
2 ذُو نَجْدَةٍ A man possessing valour. See مُنَاجِدٌ.
3 نَجْدَةٌ Fight; combat; battle.
4 Terror; fright.
5 Difficulty; distress; affliction; adversity: pl. نَجَدَاتٌ Ex. لَاقَى فُلَانٌ نَجْدَةً Such a one experienced difficulty, distress, trouble, or adversity.
6 See also a saying of Sakhr-el-Ghei, and a citation from a trad., voce رِسْلٌ.
7 نَجْدَةٌ Aid; assistance.
8 هُوَ ٱبْنُ نَجْدَتِهَا He is ignorant thereof: contr. of هو ابن بَجْدَتِهَا. By نجدة is meant an allusion to Nejdeh El-Harooree. See نَجَدٌ.
