Full Definition

نَخِبٌ and نَخْبٌ and نَخْبَةٌ (so accord. to the TA: in the CK نُخْبَةٌ:) and نُخْبَةٌ (in the CK نُخَبَةٌ ) and نِخَبٌّ and and and مَنْخُوبٌ and مُنْتَخَبٌ and يَنْخُوبٌ , to which the CK adds نَخَبٌ , A cowardly man; a coward; as though his heart were drawn out; i. e., having no heart. قَلْبٌ [A cowardly heart]: نخيب signifies a coward, who has no heart: or, accord. to some, one who acts corruptly. Pl. (of , TA,) نُخُبٌ: of مَنْخُوبُونَ, and sometimes, in poetry, accord. to IAth, مَنَاخِبُ: and Aboo-Bekr mentions نخبات as a pl. of نخبة.
