هَامِدٌ

Full Definition

هَامِدٌ and هَمِدٌ and In a state of death, or extinction].
2 هَامِدٌ A garment, or piece of cloth, [dissundered and] wornout by being long folded, so as, when touched, to fall to pieces: or anything old and wornout: pl. هُمَّدٌ. See 1.
3 أَرْضٌ هَامِدَةٌ Land in which is no herbage: and in the same sense هَامِدٌ is applied to a place: or sterile land, the herbage of which is dried up and broken, or containing no herbage except what is dried up and broken: dry and dusty: pl. هَوَامِدُ.
4 هَامِدٌ Old and worn-out or wasted, blackened, and changed, [for the worse].
5 A tree black and wasted: or dried up; as also herbage.
6 Fruit black and stinking.
7 A date just ripe, thickskinned and yellow. رَمَادٌ هَامِدٌ Ashes [in a state of extinction or] wasted, and compacted together, and changed in appearance.
