هَدِيَّةٌ
[n. un. of هَدِىٌّ] A present; i. e. a thing sent to another in token of courtesy or honour: such as is termed طَرِيفٌ and لَطَفٌ.
2 هَدْىٌ and هَدِىٌّ [coll. gen. ns.] What one brings as an offering to Mekkeh, or to the Kaabeh, or to the Haram, consisting of camels or other beasts, namely kine or sheep or goats, to be sacrificed, and of goods or commodities: n. un. with ة.
3 Also, Camels, absolutely.
4 هَدِىٌّ also One who is entitled to respect, or honour, or protection: so in a verse cited voce اِسْتَبَآءَ. (ISk in T in art. بوأ.)
